About the event

In 1995, the Honourable Dr. Jean Augustine made history when she secured unanimous parliamentary support to declare February Black History Month in Canada. Not only did her landmark motion cement a culture of recognition for the legacy and contributions of Black people in Canadian society, it also paved the way for the culture of inclusivity Canada is known for.

Join the Jean Augustine Centre for Young Women's Empowerment to celebrate 30 years of Black History Month with brunch, performances, and remarks by the Hon. Dr. Jean Augustine.

All proceeds from ticket sales will support the Jean Augustine Centre and its free after-school programs, workshops, and subsidized camps for girls and young women in South Etobicoke and beyond.
